5 Graduate Programs for Students Interested in Social Entrepreneurship

SEI provides students with a wonderful base of knowledge to begin a career in social entrepreneurship, but what comes after life at SEI? As students graduate and move on to the next stage of life, it is important to be aware of the opportunities that exist for students in this field. For the students that are interested in continuing their education after graduation, here are five options to look into once you leave the SEI nest:

1. Masters of Science in Social Entrepreneurship – USC Marshall School of Business

This program is one of few graduate degrees worldwide that directly addresses social entrepreneurship, and it is the first of its kind in the U.S. This program provides students with the necessary tools to launch a social enterprise or play a leadership role in an existing one. This program provides students a solid business background with a focus on creating lasting social change.

2. Social Enterprise Initiative – Harvard Business School

The Social Enterprise Initiative at the Harvard School of Business provides an integrative and multidisciplinary approach to graduate school for students interested in social enterprise. The program includes elective courses and field-based learning experiences; internships and career development programs; and student clubs and organizations.

3. The Center for the Advancement of Social Entrepreneurship – Duke University’s Fuqua School of Business

The Center for the Advancement of Social Entrepreneurship is an award winning research and education center at the Fuqua School of Business at Duke. Its main goal is to prepare leaders and organizations with the business skills needed to achieve lasting social change. The three main focus areas of this center are education, practitioner engagement, and thoughtful leadership.

4. Skoll Centre for Social Entrepreneurship – University of Oxford’s Said Business School

The Skoll Centre exists to accelerate social entrepreneurship by increasing the impact of entrepreneurial activity with the hopes of transforming unsatisfactory systems and practices. It offers students a world class graduate education, research opportunities and support, and facilitated exchanges with the global community.

5. Program on Social Enterprise – Yale School of Management

The Program on Social Enterprise at the Yale School of Management exists to harness business skills that achieve social objectives. It offers a wide variety of elective courses, ranging from courses on nonprofit management to practicing good business ethics. The program encompasses courses, research, conferences and publications.
