Day 1 = Passing Technical Interviews & Prototypes

IMG_9134One of my favorite sessions of the day was Passing the Technical Interview, presented by Janina Kutyn. Her presentation included an overview of common interview topics as well as a practical step-by-step guide for getting the most out of each interview.  We received great advice on how to answer tough questions honestly and with confidence.  Biggest take-away: confidence and a positive outlook can completely alter a conversation, especially when explaining gaps in knowledge or experience.

Another great workshop was User Centered Design, Mobile Prototyping & User Research, presented by Ona Anicello.  The session focused on why a user centered design is crucial (positive user experiences translate into loyal users) and which methods we use to improve those experiences (research, prototyping, etc).  The workshop was also interactive as we practiced these concepts by creating user personas and basic prototypes for a mobile application.  It was a great introduction to why user experience is important and how planning, research, and prototyping impacts the ability to develop successful applications.
