Rachindra Mawalagedara's main interest is studying climate change due to human activity. She works with climate models and is currently using a regional climate model to study the impacts of deforestation on the climate of South and Southeast Asia with emphasis on the potential variations in the Asian monsoon due to deforestation. She is also working towards her PhD in Earth and Atmospheric Sciences at University of Nebraska-Lincoln.
