On Tuesday, December 13th, ROUTES held a closing ceremony luncheon for students, faculty, and staff associated with the second cohort of the program. The luncheon was held in the Curry Student Center and gave scholars the opportunity to share some of the knowledge and experience they gained while participating in the program. Over the course of the co-op cycle, six students conducted high-level environmental health research in five different Northeastern University labs. Scholars worked with faculty mentors, graduate students, and postdocs–most of them on a full-time basis.
The ceremony began with a light meal and some words of encouragement from ROUTES Co-Director, Akram Alshawabkeh. After finishing lunch, each scholar gave a brief presentation on their work and answered questions from faculty mentors and peers in the audience. Also in attendance at the closing ceremony was soon-to-be scholar, Alejandro Rovira, whose co-op began in Puerto Rico in early January.
Thanks to the scholars of cohort two–Paula Restrepo Clavijo, Ariel Aiken, Ololade Akingbade, Yvette Niwa, Chelsea Canedy, and Joey Nneji–for all of their hard work! Learn more about these talented individuals at the previous scholars page.
