Student Claims
Students are entitled to file claims for certain property losses that occur while they are under the University's care. The Office of Risk Management is happy to work with these students and provide any assistance necessary. Please see "Student Procedures" for instructions on how to file such a claim.
Please note:
- The University is not responsible for damage to student belongings where the University itself cannot be held directly liable. As stated by the License Agreement signed by all NEU residents: Northeastern University will not be liable for loss or damage to students or students guests property located in any campus housing facility. For example, this includes but is not limited to damage caused by fire, flood, accidents, or loss or interruption of heat, electricity, burglary, theft, or vandalism.
- When filing a claim, do not dispose of any damaged property. Failure to adhere to this policy may result in denial of claim.
- The first step in filing a claim is to contact NUPD and make a report; claims will not be paid unless a report has been filed with NUPD.
