Certificates of Insurance

Proof of insurance is frequently requested throughout contract processes and other collaborative arrangements. This proof of insurance comes in the form of a certificate, which verifies that a certain insurance policy is in effect for stated amounts and coverages and names those insured.

The most commonly requested types of certificates are:

• General Liability
• Educators Legal Liability and/or Professional Liability
• Property
• Workers Compensation
• Student Professional Liability for internships and co-ops

Requesting a Certificate

Certificate Requests come in two different forms:

• Proof of insurance will be requested by an outside entity working with Northeastern employees and students.
• The University will request proof of insurance and legal indemnification from outside entities who are working with Northeastern or using our facilities.

To obtain a certificate, please fill out the Certificate Request Form and send to riskmanagement@neu.edu along with the necessary documentation for special requests.

Certificates will be issued as evidence only unless a contract or other form of documentation listing the necessary specifications is approved by the Director of Risk Management.

Be advised that at least two weeks are required for processing and approval.
