Abstract

Gilvocarcins are C-aryl glycosides having a novel angucycline skeleton. These are produced by Streptomyces gilvotanareus. They are potent antitumor and antibacterial agents. One of the probable mechanisms of anticancer activity exhibited by gilvocarcin is topoisomerase II inhibition.
