Abstract:

We have previously developed nanoparticle fluorescent sensors that can be used to measure concentrations in the body when applied in a manner similar to a tattoo. Here, we will present advances on this approach that include a novel method of measuring the fluorescence emission and a new design of sensor application that enhances sensor lifetime in the skin of research animals. These advances will enable further development of tattoo like sensors to measure multiple physiologically-relevant molecules in the body. This approach allows patients to passively and continuously track their concentration levels to better assess their health and well being in any environment.
