Abstract:

Background: Forty percent of deaths among patients with rheumatoid arthritis (RA) are attributed to cardiovascular disease. Physical activity (PA), known to reduce risk of cardiovascular disease and improve functional outcomes, is suboptimal in this population. This study aims to quantify PA participation and perceived function in patients with RA and to determine whether they are less active than age and gender-matched controls.
