RISE:2012
Thursday, March 29, 2012 Awards Ceremony 3pm - 5pm RISE:2012 will showcase the breadth and depth of innovative thinking at Northeastern, including topics in Physical & Life Sciences, Engineering, Humanities, Arts & Design, Computer & Information Sciences, Health Sciences, Law, Business and Social Sciences. In addition, our “Faculty Works” scholarly presentation honors faculty who published books or produced major artistic works in 2011. The day wraps up with an Awards Ceremony and Reception. As in years past, awards will be given for Outstanding Student Research in each category, as based on the judges scores. New this year, the RISE Awards (Research, Innovation, Scholarship and Entrepreneurship) will provide grants to students to further their research or endeavor. Prize Winners Research: Jeffrey Breugelmans – Providing Computer Accessibility for the Physically Disabled Innovation: Jessica Wilcock – Rethinking Urban Public Housing: A Prototype Promoting Social Sustainability Scholarship: Chris Bridges – Lives Lost to Lynching and the Ongoing Need for Restorative Justice Entrepreneurial (People’s Choice): Adam Morgan – Squid: Exercise Effectiveness and Muscle Activation Tracking SystemRead the Rest… Volunteers are needed to assist with RISE:2012. Roles and Responsibilities include setup, breakdown and registration. All volunteers will receive a free t-shirt as a gesture of gratitude for their time. Please sign up for at least three slots. The deadline for volunteer registration is 9:00am on Monday March 26th. Assistance is greatly appreciated. Faculty that have not had a chance to submit a book or creative work for inclusion in the Faculty Works display may submit one directly to the Provost Office by March 7th. Submissions submitted after the March 7th deadline will not be displayed at this year’s Expo.
