Program Home: ASL is in the Department of Modern Languages and Literatures Deaf Studies is housed in the Center for Interdisciplinary and Special Studies (CISS) Degree Offered: Bachelor’s Degree.
Through CISS, students also have the opportunity to develop a student designed multidisciplinary major, second major or minor incorporating Deaf Studies with other disciplines within the College. Examples of approved areas of multidisciplinary majors/second majors/minors incorporating Deaf Studies include: Development of Literacy Skills for deaf children, Deaf Studies and Education, Language Acquisition and Culture, Deaf Studies and Early Childhood Education.
Unique offerings: ASL students in the Holy Cross Deaf Studies program have strong interactions with members of the Deaf community through Community Based Learning (CBL) partnerships. Students have also taken advantage of attending Gallaudet University for a semester as a Special visiting student.
