Step 1: Log in into http://myneu.neu.edu. Click on the “Self-Service” tab.

Step 2: Select “Software Downloads.”

Step 3: In the pop-up window, select “Symantec Antivirus V12 – Windows (Windows).” Click “continue” once you’ve made your selection.

Step 4: Read and accept the license agreement.

Step 5: Select the correct version for your OS, 32-bit or 64-bit (click here to determine which you have), and select “Continue.”

Step 6: Read the “Installation Notes” and select “Download.” Once you have downloaded SEP, disconnect from the internet.

Step 7: Having multiple antivirus programs running at the same time can significantly slow down and disrupt the performance of your computer. Please uninstall any other antivirus software before continuing. Run the file that you downloaded earlier. Vista/Win 7 Users: Accept the UAC prompt. Next, agree to the licensing information prompt.

Step 8: The installation files will automatically extract. After extraction has finished, you may receive a security warning from Windows. Select “Run” to continue, and SEP will automatically install.

Step 9: Once installation is finished, you will not be prompted to restart your computer. However, it is recommended that you restart your computer once installation has completed.
