Benefits of the Position
The Residence Director position is a full time, 12-month, live-in Residential Life position with an annual salary of approximately $35,000.00, paid on a bi-weekly basis. As full-time employees, Residence Directors are eligible to enroll in comprehensive medical, dental, and life insurance programs, earn paid time off, and may contribute to retirement plans managed by TIAA-CREF & Fidelity Investments. A complete description of these and other employee benefits are available via the HRM website (http://www.northeastern.edu/hrm).
As live-in professionals, Residence Directors are provided with fully-furnished staff apartments located within the residential complex they manage. Though they vary in size and amenities, significant efforts and investments are made to comfortably furnish our RDs’ homes. Spouses and partners are welcome, though no pets (other than fish) are permitted at this time.
The Department of Residential Life at Northeastern proudly participates in many of our region’s professional organizations including BACHA, NEACUHO, and NASPA Region I, and encourages its members to do the same. In years past, on-campus professional development opportunities have included monthly pro-staff workshops, webinars, internships with partner offices, and opportunities to chair departmental committees and taskforces.
Many current and past professionals have chosen to utilize the university’s generous tuition waiver benefit to pursue additional professional certifications, or Master's and Doctoral Degree programs through the College of Professional Studies.
Although professional development is a departmental priority, the availability of funding is not limitless. Financial support for any professional development opportunity can be requested and will be reviewed by the central leadership team for approval.
