Professor Joseph Ayers is a neurobiologist who specializes in the neuroethology of motor systems in vertebrates and lower vertebrates and the application of this knowledge to the development of advanced robots and neurorehabilitative devices. He is a Professor of Biology at Northeastern University and conducts his research at the Marine Science Center in Nahant, Massachusetts. Education: BA, in Biology University of California, Riverside, 1970; Ph. D in Biology University of California, Santa Cruz, 1975. Postdoc in Neurophysiology, CNRS, Marseilles France 1975-1976. Postdoc in Neurophysiology, Neuroscience Program, UCSD, 1976-1978. Academic Career: Assistant Professor of Biology, Department of Biology 1978-1984 Associate Professor of Biology, 1984-2007, Full Professor of Biology, 2007-present.
