The growth and success of the university’s research program requires us to examine and reorganize research services to align processes and capacity with the scale of the enterprise. Over the summer, we will be reorganizing the offices of Research Administration, Research Compliance, and Research Finance. The resultant organization will report directly to David Luzzi, the Senior Vice Provost for Research. This transition aligns with the recommendation made by the Faculty Senate Research Policy Oversight Committee, which advised combining reporting lines of these units to better serve our research community and support the university’s strategic goals.
The Research Administration, Research Compliance, and Research Finance teams, in conjunction with the Office of the General Counsel and of the CFO, will prepare the research management reorganization plan, implementation of which will coincide with the start of the academic year. Among the goals of the reorganization is to reduce the administrative burden on investigators and improve communication between central university research administrators and principal investigators, colleges, institutes, and funding organizations.
