Eligibility and Nomination Requirements
Northeastern University may nominate two Northeastern faculty members for the upcoming Summer Stipend award from the National Endowment for the Humanities.
Individuals who are interested in applying should contact Karen Drew (x4824) as soon as possible, and by 12 p.m. August 17, submit the following materials as a single document email attachment (not to exceed six pages):
- Narrative: Not to exceed two single-spaced pages. This document should address each of the areas listed on the NEH Narrative Requirements, page 6: Research and contribution; methods and work-plan; competencies, skills, and access; final product and dissemination;
- Resume: not to exceed two single-spaced pages;
- Bibliography: one paragraph summary of primary and secondary sources;
- The names of two individuals from whom you would request letters of recommendation, if nominated.
Materials should be submitted to Erika Koss (firstname.lastname@example.org) no later than 12 p.m. on Friday, August 17.
If more than two faulty members are interested in applying, a Limited Submissions Review Committee will be convened during the week of August 20 to recommend the two candidates for nomination.
Summer Stipends support individuals pursuing advanced research that is of value to humanities scholars, general audiences, or both.
Recipients usually produce articles, monographs, books, digital materials, archaeological site reports, translations, editions, or other scholarly resources.
Summer Stipends support full-time work on a humanities project for a period of two months.
Summer Stipends support projects at any stage of development.
Summer Stipends may NOT be used for specific policy studies, curriculum development, development of pedagogical tools or assessments.
Summer Stipends are awarded to individual scholars. Organizations are not eligible to apply.
