The Office of International Science and Engineering (OISE) supports programs to expand and enhance leading-edge international research and education opportunities for U.S. scientists and engineers, especially at the early career stage. It works to build and strengthen effective institutional partnerships throughout the global science and engineering research and education community, and it supports international collaborations in NSF's priority research areas.
The Fulbright Program offers grants to study, teach and conduct research for U.S. citizens to go abroad and non-U.S. citizens to come to the United States.
The HFSP supports novel, innovative and interdisciplinary basic research focused on the complex mechanisms of living organisms. HFSP funding programs are strictly project-related and begin at the postdoctoral level. Research Grants are awarded for novel collaborations involving extensive collaboration among teams of scientists working in different countries and in different disciplines. No support for PhD students or for travel grants to scientific meetings.
