Under sponsorship from the BSI, Northeastern University Professor Matthew Eckelman will present a seminar on environmental impacts and sustainability in the U.S. health care system. Health care represents more than 18% of U.S GDP, and while most efforts focus on costs and quality of care, many health care businesses are pursuing environmental sustainability programs in areas including product design, building performance, waste management, and even health care delivery itself. This seminar will describe several case studies that use life cycle engineering-economic models to evaluate health care products and operations, ultimately in support of clinical and administrative decisions.
Professor Eckelman is a member of the Department of Civil and Environmental Engineering in the College of Engineering at Northeastern University.
Refreshments will be provided. RSVP to Elmira Budo (ext 3616)
