The Barnett Institute of Chemical and Biological Analysis

Welcome to Barnett Institute of Chemical and Biological Analysis

Welcome to the Mass Spectrometry Facility affiliated with the Barnett Institute

The Barnett Institute of Chemical and Biological Analysis was established in 1973 as a center for innovative interdisciplinary research and advanced training in analytical chemistry for biomedical applications. The Institute comprises 12 Faculty Fellows reaching across Northeastern University’s Colleges of Science, Computer Science, Engineering, and Bouvé College of Health Sciences. It is housed in the Northeastern University’s Department of Chemistry & Chemical Biology within the College of Science at Northeastern.
The Mass Spectrometry Facility within the Barnett Institute is a 2,200 sq. ft laboratory space that houses state-of-the-art liquid chromatography and mass spectrometry instrumentation. The lab is operated as a “fee-for-service” resource for Northeastern University and external research investigators. The Facility provides support for mass spectrometry-based molecular profiling applications, including proteomics, protein characterization, targeted protein/peptide analysis, small molecule characterization, metabolomics, and pharmacokinetic (PK) studies.
