Institute on Urban Health Research Offers Graduate Student Research Assistantship

09-01-2005  The Institute on Urban Health Research (IUHR) is seeking applications from doctoral and master's students for a one-year research assistantship working on a grant-funded initiative entitled, Workplace Flexibility 2010. Workplace Flexibility 2010 is a Washington, DC-based campaign to support the development of a comprehensive national policy on workplace flexibility at the federal, state and local levels. Supported by the Alfred P. Sloan Foundation, the WF2010 project is based at Georgetown University Law Center.

The graduate assistantship will provide graduate students the opportunity to: learn about a dynamic and emerging policy issue, apply critical literature search, review, and synthesis skills, gain an understanding of the process of political consensus building in a new arena, attend research seminars and panels, receive mentoring from experienced researchers, contribute to the ongoing campaign, and meet local and national experts in the field.

The research assistant will receive a stipend and tuition remission in exchange for 20 hours of service per week throughout the duration of the academic year.

Interested students are expected to be mature workers with a commitment to learning a new domain, and have substantive analytic and writing skill. Students should submit the following:
