How do I take a class while on co-op?
Speak with your academic advisor to confirm that you can take a class while on co-op. Then follow these instructions:
- One class: Students do NOT need to fill out the Petition Registration Form to take one class while on co-op. They can register online and must complete “I Am Here” at the appropriate time.
- Two classes: Students should fill out a Petition Registration Form if taking two classes while on co-op for any term. Students will also have to complete “I Am Here” as well, or they will be dropped

What happens if I do not complete my “I Am Here” by 4:00 PM on the deadline date?
Wait until you receive the e-mail letting you know that your classes have been dropped. Then go to the myNEU Web Portal and reregister.

I am on a leave of absence. Can I preregister for classes?
If you are returning from a leave of absence, you can preregister for classes based on the following criteria:
- Personal/emergency leave: You will receive a time ticket and can register at the appointed time and any time after time tickets are finished.
- Medical leave: Same as personal/emergency leaves, except medical leave holds are enforced during the first three weeks of each term. You will need to wait until after the last day to drop with a W grade for that term (as indicated in the academic calendar), when the hold no longer blocks registration, or clear the hold with University Health and Counseling Services.

My enrollment status is wrong. How do I fix this?
- If your enrollment status is wrong for a fall or spring semester, contact your academic/co-op advisor to make a pattern-of-attendance change.
- If your enrollment status is wrong for a summer semester, wait one week, and it should be cleared by the Office of the Registrar based on whether or not you are registered.

I should be registered for a directed study. What is the process to do so?
Speak with the faculty member with whom you wish to take the directed study, and have the faculty member submit an Undergraduate Directed Study Registration Form, with all appropriate information and signatures, to the Office of the Registrar (120 Hayden Hall).
- The form should be submitted no later than week two of the term in which the directed study is occurring.
- All fields are required on the form, especially the instructor’s NUID.
- Both the instructor’s signature and the departmental signature are required.
- Once the form is received, it should be on your record in 24–48 hours, provided there is no information missing from the form.

I am trying to drop my classes, but I have a hold. How can I drop my classes?
To drop a class or all of your classes when you have a hold, do the following:
- Before the last day to drop without a W grade, you should e-mail registrar@neu.edu with your NUID and the CRNs of the classes you want to drop. The subject of the e-mail should indicate you have a hold and need classes dropped.
- After the last day to drop without a W grade, you will need to submit a Course Drop Form to the Office of the Registrar for each of the classes.
