Registration Restrictions: Students in graduate schools outside the College of Arts and Sciences may register for graduate Arts and Sciences courses if all prerequisites listed have been met. Non–Arts and Sciences students should check with the course instructor to ascertain that they have the appropriate background before registering for the course in question. In addition, if you anticipate receiving degree credit for the graduate Arts and Sciences course, you must obtain approval from your own graduate school.

Students in graduate programs other than English or education may register for English department courses only during the first week of classes and only with the permission of the instructor.

All graduate history majors (major codes 313, 323, 363, and 395) must register through the History department.

Psychology courses are open to psychology majors (major codes 309, 319, 329, and 399) only. Other students must see the graduate coordinator in the Psychology department if interested in registering for a psychology course.

Please note: Arts and Sciences students who wish to register for a course offered by a graduate school other than Arts and Sciences must contact the dean’s office of the graduate school offering the course to obtain a Cross-Course Registration Form. This form must be signed by the graduate coordinator of the student’s department, the director of graduate student services in the Graduate School of Arts and Sciences and by the dean’s office of the graduate school offering the course.

If you are registering for a readings course, continuation, thesis, or dissertation and your advisor’s name does not appear in the online class listings, use the registration form. Please submit this form to the registration contact in your department (not to the dean’s office) before the end of the web/telephone registration period.
