Personal Safety Escort Service

The personal safety escort service provided by the Public Safety Division operates 24 hours a day, seven days a week. Do not hesitate to call us. Your safety is our reward.

How do I get an escort on campus?

If you are on campus and your destination is another location on campus call the Northeastern University Police at (617) 373-2121. Provide your name, exact location and destination. A uniformed officer will be dispatched as soon as reasonably possible. In most instances, the escort will be on foot.

How long will I have to wait?

An escort usually arrives in 10 to 15 minutes. If the escort has not arrived after 15 minutes, please call again. At the time of your original call, the dispatcher will notify you of expected delays.

Special night-time service for students who live off-campus?

Service is available from 7:00PM to dawn for Northeastern students who reside within one and one half miles of the campus.

Off-campus escorts are solely to your residence. Exceptions will be made under emergency situations only.

Are there any scheduled pickups?

A van will stop at Snell Library and the Public Safety Division Substation located at the Ruggles T-Station on Forsyth Street on the hour from 7:00PM to dawn.

We recommend public transportation or a taxi for those needs not covered by this service.

What are the restrictions of this service?

The escort service is NOT intended to be a taxi service and will NOT provide transportation for the following reasons: rides to places of employment, restaurants, drinking establishments, laundromats, airports, bus terminals, etc. It will not cover rides for large groups, especially those who are either intoxicated or who display disruptive behavior. No pets or animals allowed.

What if I have a problem getting assistance?

If you have questions or problems with delivery of the escort service, please bring your concerns to the attention of the on-duty police supervisor immediately by dialing (617) 373-2121.

This service is available to all members of the University Community.
