Research

Currently, I’m most interested in how people create, use, and handle social categories, and how these might be different from natural kind categories. Are all social categories created equal, or do we privilege some social categories and treat them more like natural kinds?

Further, I’m also interested in individual differences in reasoning and cognition in general. For instance, how does personal identification with or membership in different social categories affect they way that we reason about those same categories? I’m also interested in the idea of expertise in reasoning and what might distinguish experts from novices across domains.
