I use computational models of signal detection and behavioral economics to investigate affect/emotion, perception, and decision-making, and the breakdown of those processes in mental illness. My research takes a broad comparative approach.
Prior work with whales, dolphins and parrots involved laboratory-based research on learning and referential communication and free-ranging behavioral ecological research on social structure.
