International Students

Northeastern University is a hub of international activity involving its students and its faculty.

Throughout the course of studies for a typical Northeastern student, internationalization is one of the fibers threading all aspects of a student's experience together. The key to Northeastern university's approach to internationalization is to offer students multiple experiences throughout their years of study, helping students acquire - and constantly reinforce and grow - the skills a global citizen needs to succeed.

Whether it be in study abroad programs, in dedicated international degree programs, or in experiential programs, Northeastern offers a dynamic array of international opportunities. More than 1,000 students each year participate in our signature study abroad programs in more than 30 countries and, in addition, more than 300 students participate annually in international co-op and service learning opportunities in 20 countries worldwide.

For those students interested in degree programs with an international focus, we offer baccalaureate programs in International Affairs and in International Business.

To support these activities, the University has created a World Languages Center to offer students a wide range of languages at all levels

International opportunities abound on campus as well. The campus is richly populated with some 2,400 international students from 114 countries studying at the undergraduate and graduate levels. The ISSI connects the international components of campus life, academic disciplines, and student-faculty community together through an interfaith worship center, cultural events, and support services for international students

Through its innovative Global Pathways program, Northeastern prepares international students for academic success in the US. The program organizes courses in ESL, academic skills-building, and sheltered content instruction so that students who successfully complete the program can matriculate with credits into one of Northeastern's graduate or undergraduate programs.

Northeastern faculty have extensive research and scholarly connections with colleagues at universities around the globe.
