Dean of Academic Affairs for External Programs & Vice Provost for Health Research
Dr. Stephen Zoloth, Dean of Academic Affairs for External Programs and Vice Provost for Health Research, holds a Ph.D. in biology from the University of Pennsylvania and a Master’s of Public Health in Epidemiology and Occupational Health and Health Policy from the University of California at Berkeley, and was a postdoctoral fellow at The Rockefeller University.
Dr. Zoloth joined Northeastern in 2000 with his appointment as Dean of Bouvé College of Health Sciences. He came to Northeastern from Hunter College, where he had served as Professor of Community Health, Dean of the School of Health Sciences, and Associate Provost.
Since 2000, Dr. Zoloth led Bouvé College through the establishment of the signature Behrakis Health Sciences Center; innovative academic programs; highly qualified applicants; and an impressive retention rate. During Dr. Zoloth’s 11 year deanship, Bouvé added two named chairs, created five nationally known centers and institutes, and received ever-increasing amounts of federal research funding. He also served as interim Provost in 2008.
In his new role as Dean of Academic Affairs for External Programs, in coordination with the Provost, Senior Vice President for Enrollment Management and Academic Deans Dr. Zoloth works to identify and develop new opportunities to expand Northeastern University's academic programs, while ensuring the quality of such programs. As Vice Provost for Health Research, in coordination with Senior Vice Provost for Research & Graduate Education, he leads the collaborative process to set the vision and expansion of health research.
