On June 23rd and 24th, PROTECT and CRECE team members met in Puerto Rico for an in-person meeting and celebration of the opening of the new clinic in Manatí, Puerto Rico.

For the first day, the group joined in a technical discussion with a strong focus on recruitment of study participants and data collection procedures. The Human Subjects Core, led by Dr. José Cordero, provided an extensive overview of their progress so far and the challenges they have overcome. After lunch, the Project and Core leaders gave their own updates and addressed ongoing preparations for data collection and research.

On Friday, the team traveled from San Juan to the PROTECT/CRECE clinic in Manatí for a ribbon cutting ceremony outside. After the ceremony the team toured the clinic facilities.

The clinic is located across the street from the Manatí Medical Center, where the majority of the CRECE participants are recruited. The PROTECT/CRECE team concluded their meeting with a visit and business lunch at the Medical Center.

The PROTECT/CRECE clinic has been open since April, and almost 40 participants have been recruited into the CRECE study.
