Presidential Initiatives
The following presidential initiatives stem from the strengths and objectives outlined in the academic plan. Each one supports and builds upon at least one of our five core objectives: experiential learning, interdisciplinary and translational research, intellectual and creative expression, urban engagement, and global opportunities.
Stony Brook Initiative
A university-neighborhood partnership for youth and
community development, fostering innovation through collaboration,
as members of the campus and surrounding communities partner together
to address the needs of our urban neighborhood
Northeastern Creates
An opportunity for all in the University community to
celebrate Northeastern's distinctive take on the arts and a reaffirmation
of our strong commitment to supporting creative and artistic endeavors
Interdisciplinary
Faculty Initiative
A commitment to faculty recruitment that complements our Academic
Investment Initiative and adds to our already strong interdisciplinary research
environment
Academic Initiative
A planning process, beginning in fall 2006, that involved
reflecting on our purpose and envisioning our future and led to a new
Mission Statement and Academic plan that will guide us in our endeavors
ahead
