Dear Colleagues, I am continually impressed with the professionalism, dedication and spirit of collaboration that I see on a daily basis from our faculty and staff. Homecoming and Parent and Family Weekend is just the latest reminder. I want to applaud the efforts of everyone who was involved in working together to make it a reality. It is important to recognize the significance of events like these to our most valued constituents. Parent and Family Weekend is a celebration of pride in Northeastern. Nowhere is that pride more evident than in the faces of students. Our student life team organized a wide range of activities for the students and their parents and families. They are leading the charge in forging traditions at our university that will have staying power for generations. It is wonderful to welcome alumni back to their alma mater for Homecoming. Our alumni relations team organized events that had our alumni interacting with students and faculty. It was a great way to rekindle their pride and strengthen their connections to the university. I also received many compliments on the new Alumni Center, which was very active all week with events. I want to congratulate the football team on their overtime win. They took a risk and it paid off. There is a lot we can learn from that exciting ending. I extend my congratulations to our student athletes and their coaches in football, ice hockey, field hockey, and men and women’s soccer for their hard fought wins over the weekend. Events like Homecoming and Parent and Family Weekend would never be so successful if we relied on just one group. They require collaboration among many groups. So I would like to acknowledge all involved, the planners, the organizers, those in finance who pay the bills, and the facilities team who make our campus a beautiful place for our visitors. Thank you for making my first Northeastern Homecoming and Parent and Family Weekend so very memorable. | |
