To the Northeastern University community,

I am pleased to inform you that in the coming weeks I will establish a new home at 716 Columbus Place for the offices of the President and the Board of Trustees as well as for the University’s senior leaders. These offices will be collocated with the new Northeastern University Alumni Center and Faculty Club.

My decision is prompted by many factors. I believe our future success, to a great extent, lies in our ability to collaborate in all areas, beginning with the leadership team. Having the senior vice presidents located together will facilitate collaboration and communication—an outcome further enhanced by the proximity of the Alumni Center and Faculty Club. The convergence of University leadership, board members and faculty and staff will make this a central hub of activity at Northeastern.

I believe that alumni are the lifeblood of the institution. The Alumni Center and Faculty Club will be the epicenter of alumni activity on campus, and the most visible manifestation of Northeastern’s commitment to them. This move sends a strong signal to alumni that we recognize how important they are to our continued success. It also puts the leadership team in proximity to engage with alumni and faculty on a regular basis. I look forward to working with the Alumni Relations team to bring this new center to life and to make it a showplace for Northeastern.

Our Board of Trustees is entrusted with the future of the university. The members dedicate their time, talent and treasure to Northeastern. The Board’s new home in Columbus Place will, for the first time, provide adequate space and facilities to carry on its very important work.

Northeastern is situated in the midst of diverse and vibrant communities. I believe we should embrace the unique relationships that exist between the Northeastern community and our neighbors. Columbus Place is located where the Roxbury and South End neighborhoods converge, an ideal setting to engage with the surrounding communities.

I am fully confident that this new home for our senior leadership and the Board will accelerate our progress towards excellence.
