To the Northeastern University community: A new academic year is upon us and we are off to an excellent start. I have been very impressed over the past week with how this community of students, staff, faculty and administrators have joined together to welcome families back to campus. Literally hundreds of people mobilized to make move-in as easy and comfortable as possible. It was, in my estimation, a five-star operation. Whether you were lifting boxes in the rain, helping students to find their way on campus or working from your desk to coordinate the effort, your hard work was well noted and much appreciated by the students and their parents. Of course move in culminated with Convocation, an event which I truly loved as a way to formally welcome our newest students, many of whom I met at the barbeque. That event set the stage for an exciting Welcome Week. I know that there is a great deal of planning and work in coordinating these events on such a large scale. All those involved are to be congratulated for helping our students to hit the ground running in the new academic year. Your willingness to participate and be involved directly with the students in this way helps to make Northeastern a better place. Thank you for your efforts. | |
