To the Northeastern University community: As I begin my presidency here at Northeastern, I am grateful to all of you for your many contributions to the University and to President Freeland for his decade of visionary leadership. Thanks to all of you, Northeastern has been making tremendous strides in its ongoing transformation, and our momentum is both striking and a precious commodity. Our task now is to determine how best to build upon that momentum by pursuing heightened excellence and distinction in everything we do. We will work together to forge a common vision around shared goals and a strategic plan to guide us in realizing that vision. We will not seek to copy others but to create our own destiny. In this period of accelerated knowledge-creation, opportunities abound for entrepreneurial risk-taking and innovation. We therefore have much to discuss in the coming weeks and months. Toward that end, we are actively scheduling meetings with University units and departments. I look forward to meeting with as many of you as possible in the near term to learn all that I can about Northeastern as, together, we begin to shape its future. In the meantime, it is a privilege to join with you in sharing a
sense of excitement and purpose as we anticipate the start of the
