Professors Crotty and Tolley presented papers for the Northeastern Political Science AssociationNovember 21, 2013
At the Northeastern Political Science Association’s annual meeting on November 15, 2013, Professor William Crotty was elected Chair of the General Council of NPSA. Professor Crotty chaired a roundtable on “The Supreme Court and the Voting Rights Act,” where he and Professor Tolley presented papers on what was the single most powerful and successful legislation attacking racial discrimination in voting. The Professors argued that our current Supreme Court is effectively dismantling this act despite strong endorsement by Congress, who renewed the legislation for 25 years in 2006. Their papers dictated the importance of this case and its implications for the practice of democracy in this country.
