February 22, 2013 , 5-7pm
Location: Humanities Center Lounge
Organizer: Natalie Bormann (Political Science) and Carleton Gholz (Communication Studies)

Each month we highlight a particular journal of critical theory, broadly understood, and read a series of articles chosen from the journal that highlight its specific historical and intellectual trajectory. This meeting we will read two articles (see attached) on the British Miners' Strike from the journal Capital & Class. Ralph Darlington, "There is no alternative: Exploring the options in the 1984-5 miners' strike" Benjamin Franks, "British anarchisms and the miners' strike" We also recommend this audio clip on the strike: http://www.bbc.co.uk/programmes/p00m6f11 And lastly a poem by Tony Harrison: http://plagiarist.com/poetry/5618/
