Social Policy

Within the undergraduate Human Services program, students study social policy as one mechanism to impact social change. Human Services students examine the interaction between social policy, advocacy, direct service, nonprofit programming, and the private sector. Combining theory and evidenced based practice, Human Service students learn about making positive social change from experiential learning in the local and global community that impacts children, families, and communities. Through academic coursework, service-learning, co-op and the internship program, students are prepared to work in various capacities including: direct service, counseling, organizational development, political advocacy, community development,
and nonprofit management. Students from all majors are also invited to participate in Northeastern Students4Giving (NS4G) (hyperlink here to NS4G website), an experiential philanthropy education program that explores social change through the lens of nonprofit performance and funding.
