Kwamina Panford is an Associate Professor, Dept. of African-American Studies. He teaches International/African Politics and Economic Development. His specialization includes International Organizations such as the OAU and the UN and its agencies. Due to his interest in promoting students' knowledge about international organizations, he introduced and has been involved with the Model OAU at NU since 1989. He is also involved in NU students' study abroad in Africa. His goals include being a pioneer in the research on a New African Union whose launch he will attend in South Africa at the invitation of the OAU.

His Project is on student's participation in the Annual National Model OAU at Washington DC. This project entails using the Model OAU and the New African Union to assist students to learn about African affairs, the roles of Africans in world affairs and how global events impact the lives of the over 700 million Africans. Highlights of this Model include extensive briefing of students at African Embassies and a four-day simulation of the proceedings of the OAU and New Union. The Model involves over 45 US Colleges and Universities. Resolutions passed at the Model are sent to the Head Offices of the OAU.
