Availability of big data allows for deeper insights about human behavior both at personal and macro levels. In this talk I will give an overview of the related work I am involved with at the Human Dynamics group, Media Lab. At a personal data level, we study whether a user’s social behavior can be used to predict different aspects of their lives, including, happiness levels, spending patterns, and product adoption. At a macro level I will demonstrate how multiple layers of spatio-temporal data (e.g. weather information, Tweets, and mobile logs) can be used to draw newer insights not obvious from a single data source.
