After a brief discussion of density matrices we define the entropy of a quantum ensemble and study it’s significance for quantum information theory. Then, we define the quantum channel and look at some examples and conjectures of interest in the field. Finally, we’ll have a short look at recent research in the field, including some results of my work with Prof. King.
