Information for Incoming Students

Orientation will take place in room 378 at 140 The Fenway starting at 11:30am on Tuesday, September 2, 2014.

Below are answers to frequently asked questions from incoming students.  Please review this and let me know if you have any additional questions.

Any questions regarding your health reports can be directed to our University Health and Counseling Services.  Please see website here:http://www.northeastern.edu/uhcs/

Any questions about relatively cheap temporary housing upon arrival please refer to http://bostonhostel.org/.  We also have an Indian organization called sanskriti who has been helpful in the past with temporary accommodations for international students:  http://sanskriti.neu.edu/Information.html.  This website also gives you information for other options regarding health insurance, if you do not wish to pay for the Northeastern health insurance.  We also have a Chinese organization that might be able to accommodate temporary housing as well:  http://www.northeastern.edu/cssa/

You can open up a bank account once you arrive.  There is a Bank of America near the University where most of our students go.  They are used to Northeastern Students opening up bank accounts here and are very helpful with the process.  If you are an international student, you will need to bring ALL your documents with you and they can help with the process from there.

Once you have registered for classes and receive your billing statements, please note that you do not need to pay your bill until after you have arrived.  However, any further questions about this can be addressed to the student accounts office (http://www.northeastern.edu/financialaid/studentaccounts/).

All international students are required to attend SEVIS clearance upon arrival.  More information about this can be found on the International and Student Scholar Institute website:
http://www.northeastern.edu/issi/.  Questions regarding your I-20 should  be sent to the ISSI or bouvegrad@neu.edu.  More information about requesting your 1-20 can be found here: Bouve College I-20 Request Information.

You can start registering for courses before your arrival if you wish.  Below is a list of courses incoming students should be registered for.  Please keep in mind that all international students must be registered for a minimum of 8 semester hours (SH) to maintain full time status.
