Our Partners

Partnership is a core concept at Northeastern University. The University was founded as an implicit partnership with the people of Boston, and the establishment of the cooperative education program made partnerships with business and government central to our educational mission. As Northeastern has grown, so have its partnerships. It's the Northeastern difference.

Co-op Partnerships

Our cooperative education program started nearly a century ago with engineering students working for just three companies. Today nearly 2,000 employers in 35 countries are partnered with Northeastern. These partners often extend themselves to make particular co-op experiences possible for the right students. More than half of Northeastern students who participate in co-op receive a full-time job offer from a former co-op employer upon graduation.

Corporate Partnerships

Corporate Partnerships formed with companies from all industries may be multidimensional or focused on a particular area of interest, such as employment of co-op students; recruitment of new, permanent employees; technical, scientific or market research; professional development for current employees; or outreach to the communities that the company serves.

Academic & Artistic Partnerships

Northeastern’s partnerships with other educational institutions create a rich learning community for our students and faculty. One such collaboration is the National Consortium of Interpreter Education Centers.   Northeastern is one of six regional centers nationwide dedicated to increasing the number of qualified and credentialed American Sign Language interpreters.

Community Partnerships

The University’s commitment to community engagement is demonstrated in its community-focused initiatives, which put Northeastern’s people and resources to work with programs that meet critical needs in the areas of justice, education, health and recreation, and housing and economic development.

Research Partnerships

The university’s strong research partnerships — on the Northeastern campus, throughout the United States, and abroad — are crucial as faculty strive to address pressing questions in the sciences, social sciences, and humanities. Northeastern boasts significant interdisciplinary research partnerships in several key fields, including nanotechnology, drug discovery, and homeland security. Northeastern faculty also partner with students on a wide variety of research projects, offering them the chance to conduct significant research in their labs, to publish papers, or to explore, firsthand, compelling issues in the arts and humanities.
