It is mandatory for all students who begin in the fall to attend an orientation session before they start at Northeastern. While you’re here, you’ll meet other new students and learn your way around campus. You’ll explore your academic college and major and learn more about co-op and experiential learning. And, most importantly, you’ll have fun getting to know Northeastern and Boston, the ultimate college town.  A non refundable $350 new student fee will be posted to your fall semester bill. This fee includes student orientation costs (including the opportunity to have two complimentary guests participate in the Parent Program which runs simultaneously to the Student Program), the automatic membership of your parents into the Parents Association; receiving regular communication on the University throughout the year, and Welcome Week activities. Additional guests and all guests requiring on campus housing will ensue additional costs.

Early Arrival Option
Students coming from a distance may elect to arrive early to summer orientation. You'll have this option when registering. Participants receive an additional overnight accommodation and meal (prior to 7 pm) for the night before your orientation session.

Please note: for those who have chosen the Early Arrival option, check in time is from 5:00-9:00pm in the respective locations. 

Check-in/Check-out Times and Location
All students should check-in at Speare residence hall lobby, from 7:00-7:45am on the first day of the program. It is mandatory that all students stay overnight in the residence hall.  Check out begins at 3pm on the following day.  Please note that the check out time can vary upon the completion of the student’s academic advising.

All guests attending the Parent and Family Orientation program and staying on campus should check-in at the West Village E lobby. Guests not staying on campus should check-in at the Speare residence hall lobby.

International Students
International students are invited to take part in a comprehensive introduction program, hosted by the International Student and Scholar Institute (ISSI), held at the beginning of each semester. Activities include cultural enrichment programming, information sessions, immigration advising, regional excursions, intercultural/diversity education seminars, and workshops on topics ranging from academic success to student life.
