Dr. Emily Zimmerman, PhD, CCC-SLP, is a recipient of the 2014-2015 Integration of Oral Health and Primary Care Curricular Innovation Awards. The goal of this award is to advance the integration of oral health across across all of Bouvé’s academic programs. Dr. Zimmerman’s project utilized 3D tooth models (pictured below), created by Northeastern engineering students, and brought together speech language pathology students and dental students from Harvard School of Dental Medicine. Student teams completed three simulation case studies and exchanged clinically relevant information in an effort to increase understanding of how dentistry and speech-language pathology both play a vital role in oral health.
