On May 6th, Innovations in Oral Health conducted a professional development workshop addressing the HRSA Oral Health Core Clinical Competencies for primary care practice.  The purpose of this workshop was to teach students about common dental emergencies and providing palliative emergency treatment. This workshop was designed for cooperative education students from Northeastern University and health professionals at Boston Health Care for the Homeless Program. This workshop was the fifth of a series of workshops conducted over the Spring semester to develop competence in identifying patient-specific conditions that impact oral health. This unique cooperative education program was developed to build oral health workforce capacity and develop the next generation of health professionals with the essential competencies to deliver patient-centered, team-based, integrated primary care.
