On October 22nd, Jessica L. Holloman – Program Director of Innovations in Interprofessional Oral Health, presented a concurrent session at the 2014 Association of Schools of Allied Health Professions Annual Conference in Las Vegas, NV. The session, titled: Innovations in Interprofessional Oral Health Education, featured an interprofessional faculty toolkit designed to integrate oral health in health sciences curricula. The toolkit can be adapted for training allied health professionals, including dental hygienists, nutritionists, occupational therapists, physical therapists, and speech-language pathologists. As the only session dedicated to oral health education, we hope to that we sparked a conversation among the allied health educator present, that with appropriate education and training, allied health professionals are well-positioned to address oral health care needs at every clinical encounter.
