Prescription Sleeping Pills

Classes: Zolpidem, Eszopiclone, Ramelteon, Triazolam, Zaleplon

Examples: Ambien, Lunesta, Rozerem, Halcion, Sonata

Short-term Symptoms: sleepiness (may carry into next day), increased appetite, decreased sex drive, poor coordination and balance, headaches, cold-like symptoms, dizziness, heart burn.

Long-term Symptoms: memory loss, hallucinations, delusions, increased impulsivity.

Use Caution with: alcohol, certain foods (grapefruit, high-fat foods); individuals with history of depression, kidney, liver, or respiratory problems.
