There are three main types of alcohol: methanol or methyl alcohol is wood alcohol and is used in products such as antifreeze, copier toner, and certain solvents; isopropanol or isopropyl alcohol is used as a cleaning agent and is the most common form of rubbing alcohol used to clean wounds; ethanol or ethyl alcohol is the alcohol people can drink and can be used as a fuel for cars.
