Short-term Symptoms: drowsiness, disorientation, delirium, shallow breathing, low blood pressure and heart rate, constricted pupils, dry mouth, constipation, itching, muscle spasticity, relaxation, feeling of heaviness in limbs, uncontrolled alternation between wakefulness and sleepiness ('nodding off').
Long-term Symptoms: abscesses and vein collapse from needle use, infection of the heart lining, liver disease.
