The Bachelor of Science in Human Services program provides you with the skills and knowledge necessary to effectively respond to clients’ needs. Featuring courses in public health, sociology, psychology, and human services, as well as counseling and a required practicum in a human services agency, The curriculum offers comprehensive perspectives and valuable insights into what is required to successfully work in human service agencies and community organizations. It prepares students to immediately enter the field or to pursue graduate work in counseling psychology and social work.
Human services is one of the fastest growing fields in the country, with employment for social workers expected grow faster than average for all occupations through 2018 (according to the Bureau of Labor Statistics). While a bachelor's degree is the minimum requirement for entry into the occupation, some positions require an advanced degree. Occupational prospects are expected to be especially favorable for social workers who specialize in aging populations or work in rural areas.
