This process and database may only be used for students who have gone abroad any semester through Fall 2008. It should not be used by Spring 2009 students and beyond. Details for Spring 2009 will be available this fall.
Upon the completion of a study abroad program, students are required to submit a Petition for Course Substitution (does not apply to Rome & SEA Semester). This Petition tells OISP what NU equivalent courses to post to a students transcript.
The following is a list of NU course equivalents that have already been approved. No signature is required on the Petition if using an equivalent from this database. However, if a student is trying to satisfy a major, minor, or core requirement, they should confirm the NU equvialent with an advisor to make sure that equivalent is appropriate for satisfying the requirement. If the course taken abroad is not found on this spreadsheet, the student must take a course description to the academic department in which the course falls under, have it evaluated, and signed-off on using the Petition. Please feel free to contact us with any questions.
